Carols by Candlelight 2010 invites you. “Come Home for Christmas”: Carols by Candlelight @ Fort Canning, 12 December 2010, 6pm Carols by Candlelight 2010 is shaping up to be a vibrant Christmas experience that will touch the heart of Singapore. One of the most important holiday events this year, Carols by Candlelight is a free concert providing families an opportunity to enjoy a magical musical evening in the beautiful surroundings of Fort Canning Park. This year's theme, "Come Home for Christmas," will hold a special meaning for many Singapore locals, as well as for Singapore's international residents who may be familiar with the popular Christmas-themed outdoor concerts held each holiday season in cities like New York, London, Sydney and Melbourne. As families and friends relax on the lawn with a picnic, artists and ensembles from different countries will come together with a variety of music, dance, and drama. The audience will be invited to sing-along with their favourite traditional Christmas carols and join in the lighting of open-flame Christmas candles. The culmination of this special evening is found in the reading of the Advent of Christ, which offers a timely reminder of enduring values and speaks of the peace and hope of Christmas amidst an uncertain and turbulent world.
